What is Brampton College like?

Privately owned and run by the same team for as long as anyone can remember, Brampton College is well known institution in NW4, with its 200 or so students commuting in by train, underground or bus to Hendon.

Brampton is your classic sixth form college with a handful of tail end GCSE students and a significantly larger proportion of A-level students. There is a strong range of subjects available, with the focus very much on traditional academic A-levels and progress to the best possible universities. With this in mind, the college also offers 1 year A-level programmes, which are extremely useful for students needing to retake or switch subject choice.

There is no uniform and, whilst friendly, the atmosphere is quietly professional as everyone goes about doing what they need to do to achieve their goals.

Is Brampton College a good school?

It’s important to make the distinction between a school and a college. Brampton does not even attempt to offer the range of co-curricular sports, clubs and activities that you would expect from a standard independent school.

All students are age 15+, with the youngest usually taking one year GCSE programmes. So the focus of all Bramptonians is on their academics. Learning and exam-drilling are what it is all about.

This is a serious, unpretentious college. For what it lacks in bling, it aims to make up with in results. It does so with small class sizes, expert teachers and a culture of responsibility and resilience.

What is boarding like at Brampton College?

Brampton doesn’t offer boarding accommodation itself, but has a team to support (primarily international) students who want a truly authentic 6th form experience and need a place to stay nearby.

The college works with Hosts International to help its 15-17 year olds set up a stay with a welcoming British family within close proximity of the college.

Students over 18 are helped to arrange secure student accommodation a short commute from the college. There are modern ensuite rooms with purpose-built student facilities and 24/7 security and support.
